About Me

Hi, I’m Emma, a third-year studio art major and art history minor at Louisiana Tech University. My practice is multidisciplinary and hands-on, shaped by both material experimentation and research-based inquiry. I’m drawn to processes I can shape, alter, and build with, while my art historical studies inform how I think about context, meaning, and the relationships between objects, environments, and lived experience.

Much of my work begins with intuitive making, allowing form to emerge through process, while other projects grow from structured research into materials, ecological systems, and historical references. I move comfortably between these approaches, and I’m most interested in the space where curiosity, experimentation, and analysis meet.

Alongside my studio practice, I actively engage in art historical research with the goal of graduate study in art history. My interests include museum culture, authorship, and the ways artistic practices reflect and shape human relationships with the natural world. These perspectives inform both my writing and my making, allowing each to strengthen the other.

Whether I’m sculpting, designing, researching, or experimenting with new techniques, I’m drawn to work that feels layered, personal, and intentional.

When I’m not in the studio, I recharge by spending time outdoors with the people I love, or tucked into a quiet moment with a good book. I was fortunate to grow up in an environment that celebrated creativity, and I carry that early encouragement with me into everything I make.

I’m so happy you’re here!
